How To Make A Delicious Apple Tart

Apple Tart with Jam

Preparation time: 50 minutes

Serves: 6-8 people

Ingredients:

Dough Ingredients:

  • One and a half cups of flour.
  • Half a cup of powdered sugar.
  • Half a teaspoon of salt.
  • One sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • Ten tablespoons of butter.
  • One egg yolk.
  • Half a teaspoon of vanilla.

Apple Sauce Ingredients:

  • Six apples.
  • Two tablespoons of rusk.
  • A quarter cup of water.
  • Two tablespoons of brown sugar.
  • A quarter cup of sugar.

Top Layer ingredients:

  • Two large apples.
  • One egg.
  • One teaspoon of vanilla.
  • Two big spoons of sugar.
  • A quarter of a cup of jam.

How to prepare

Dough preparation:

  • Put the cinnamon, sugar, flour and salt in the bowl of the food processor, and run it until all the ingredients are mixed.
  • Add butter to ingredients and run food processor on medium speed; until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Add the vanilla and egg yolks, then add the water as needed until the dough becomes sticky.
  • Put the dough in the mould designated for the tart, or inside a rectangular mould, making sure to cover its sides and bottom, then wrap it using nylon, and put it inside the freezer for a full hour.

Prepare the Apple Sauce:

  • Peel the apple and cut it into cubes, put it in a saucepan with a thick base, then add water and sugar to the apple, and let it cook for 20 minutes until it melts and disappears completely.
  • Place the apples in a food processor and run on medium speed until soft, then let cool.
  • Heat the oven until it reaches a temperature of 190 degrees Celsius, and fix its middle rack.
  • Remove the dough from the freezer, and remove the cling film.
  • Spread an aluminium sheet over the dough, and place a quantity of broad beans or beans on top of the sheet so that it forms a weight on it.
  • Bake the dough for up to 20 minutes, until it turns golden, and take it out of the oven and get rid of the weight on it, but do not remove the dough from the bread tin, but leave it to cool slightly.
  • Put applesauce over the baked dough.

Prepare the top layer:

  • Peel the apple, remove its seeds and cut it into four pieces, and cut each quarter into seven small slices, and distribute the slices on the apple sauce according to the shape of the tray.
  • Put the vanilla and eggs in a small dish, stir with a fork, and spread the resulting mixture over the apples using a kitchen brush, and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C, and bake the tart for up to 30 minutes, until its surface is set.
  • Remove the apple tart from the oven, brush it with jam with a kitchen brush, and serve.
